Agent Carmichael

Our friend Karin sent Tyler an Agent in Training onesie and this hat for Andy. He looks pretty official, doesn't he?
Can you pick a career at 3.5 months?

Mr. President!

As I sit here, (at work no less) watching Barack Obama being sworn in to the office of the President I can't help but think that I am watching an amazing piece of history. That years from now Tyler will be sitting in a classroom learning about what he is right now watching at Grandma's house (but won't remember). It's not just that he is the first African-American President, although that is an achievement on its own. It's that he has brought our country together and brought us hope during a time where many are feeling hopeless. For the first time in 8 years, I am excited for the future.

And better yet, I will not cringe when the President holds a press conference.

Back to work!

Everyone keeps asking me how it is to return to work and I almost feel bad when I say it hasn't been that bad. I think part of it is that my mom is watching Tyler and so I'm not worried about him during the day. Also, I think I'm enjoying the adult conversation during the day.

But over the past week or so, Tyler has gotten into a sleeping rhythm and now is going to bed by about 7:30pm and sleeping until 6am. As a result, we really only get about 1.5 hours with him in the evening before he goes to sleep and about the same in the morning while we are all getting ready for work and daycare. This part sucks! Although I love the extra sleep we are getting I'd love more play time with my boy during the week.

Alas, this is the struggle of the working mom...

I Spoke Too Soon!

Okay... so I made fun when there wasn't any snow yesterday. But... then this happened.

Missing: Snow

This morning there was snow in my front yard and the news stations warned that the storm could bring 3-9" of snow. This is what my front yard looked liked at 3pm.

Something is missing...

December Storm 2008!

I laugh everytime we have snow in Seattle because it completely shuts down the city and the news is awesome! I can say that because I used to work in television news and was part of "Winter Storm (insert year here)" for several years.

Last weekend we got an inch of snow. It didn't completely shut down the city... but it was close. Today, we are expecting a bunch of snow... so they say. But I actually have less snow than I did yesterday. But the best part is that every single school in the area is closed. No snow. No School. Priceless.

I was actually hoping to get a big dumping of snow though. Our first sprinkle was Tyler's first snow. So I bundled him up and grabbed the bumbo and took him outside for his first snow photo shoot. He wasn't sure at first and then got used to it.

Alright... back to watching out the window. Come on Winter Storm 2008!

Christmas Woes...

Our Christmas tree is up and looking pretty good, if I do say so myself. However, there are 19 more days until Christmas and we have a dog and a cat and a baby. Bets anyone?
